The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted a spectacular “Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Night 2025” reception at One Bangkok, marking 50 years of friendship between Thailand and China. This high-profile celebration, part of the nationwide Nihao Month campaign, coincided with China’s Golden Week and the Mid-Autumn Festival, highlighting Thailand as a top travel destination while promoting cultural exchange and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
The event welcomed 100 distinguished Chinese visitors, including leading content creators, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and media representatives. The reception aimed to showcase Thailand’s unique blend of culture, hospitality, and tourism offerings, while reinforcing ties with Chinese audiences eager to explore authentic travel experiences.
Under the theme “Mid-Autumn Festival uniting Thai–Chinese culture and tourism,” the celebration offered a rich display of traditional and modern cultural performances. Guests were treated to interactive experiences reflecting Thailand’s vibrant heritage, including mooncake-making ceremonies symbolizing reunion and prosperity. Participants also engaged in dialogues highlighting the close collaboration between the two countries in tourism development and cultural promotion.
Mr. Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, said “This celebration reflects the enduring friendship between Thailand and China, inspired by the Mid-Autumn Festival’s values of unity, family, and reunion. As our nations mark 50 years of diplomatic relations, the phrase ‘China and Thailand are one family’ – Zhong Tai Yi Jia Qin – perfectly captures our long-standing bond. Through tourism, we continue to strengthen this connection, sharing smiles, understanding, and experiences that bring our peoples ever closer.”
The gathering formed part of the “Thailand, Told by You” initiative, which invited 50 top KOLs and 50 challenge winners to share their travel experiences in Thailand. Over the following days, participants will explore key destinations including Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket, and Ko Samui. Through these journeys, they will showcase Thailand’s diverse attractions, immersive activities, culinary delights, local products, scenic beauty, and dynamic festivals, capturing the country’s essence on major Chinese digital platforms and inspiring wider travel interest.
Thailand’s tourism offerings also emphasize safety and sustainability, with initiatives designed to ensure a trusted travel experience for visitors. The “5 Must Do” highlights – culinary experiences, immersive activities, shopping for local products, scenic sightseeing, and festival participation – provide Chinese travelers with a comprehensive introduction to the country’s rich cultural and natural landscape.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “Nihao Month reflects TAT’s commitment to China as one of Thailand’s most important markets. Through creative marketing, cultural collaboration, and close cooperation with our partners, we aim to turn awareness into real travel. Last night’s celebration embodied the spirit of friendship and will help inspire new journeys throughout the upcoming festive and Lunar New Year seasons.”
As part of Nihao Month 2025, TAT and its partners launched a series of strategic campaigns to boost Chinese travel. Collaborations with major Chinese platforms, including Meituan, Ctrip, Tongcheng, Dianping, Alipay, WeChat, RED, and Douyin, feature exclusive promotions and discounts running through 31 December. In addition, the Chinese Passport Privilege program offers special benefits at prominent Thai retailers, malls, and lifestyle hubs, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
Thailand has seen strong growth in arrivals from China, welcoming over 3.4 million visitors between January and September 2025. With Nihao Month as a centerpiece, TAT expects tourism from China to continue rising in the final quarter of the year. These initiatives reinforce Thailand’s position as a preferred destination, celebrating the long-standing friendship and cultural ties shared with China.
The “Amazing Thailand Mid-Autumn Night 2025” reception not only celebrated a historic milestone in bilateral relations but also set the stage for a renewed wave of tourism and cultural exchange. By combining immersive experiences, digital storytelling, and collaborative campaigns, Thailand continues to captivate Chinese travelers, offering a travel experience that blends tradition, innovation, and heartfelt hospitality.
