There is a fresh new design storyline that can be discovered on Nantucket, where interior design met fashion for a joint creation among Michael Thomas & Co., a New York-based company, and American lifestyle icon Lilly Pulitzer. Two of the Nantucket Hotel & Resort private cottages were reimagined for a magical, garden-focused escape, blending Pulitzer’s most distinctive motifs with that coastal New England spirit.

This project is Lilly Pulitzer’s third design joint project with Little Gem Resorts, the owner of Nantucket Hotel & Resort. Its previous joint projects are a summer guest cottage at The Winnetu Oceanside Resort on Martha’s Vineyard and a tropical-themed Lilly Villa at Lovango Resort and Beach Club on the U.S. Virgin Islands.

For this project, the new collection of Lilly Pulitzer fabrics and wallcoverings from Lee Jofa provided the perfect floral and coastal inspiration. Set just outside the hotel, these two private cottages were the ideal canvas for Benjamin Moore’s rich color offering. Each cottage is a celebration of color, comfort, and craftsmanship, boldly showcasing the latest textile collection. Lilly Pulitzer and Lee Jofa artists transformed the spaces into true resort escapes by pattern-blocking the whimsical floral prints across custom headboards, drapery, accent pillows, and hand-painted murals, creating a visual story that feels both nostalgic and modern. Suzanne Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer for Lee Jofa, stated, “The curated print selection is exceptional; our multi-colored ‘She’s Got Sol’ serves as a pivotal design element, while the ‘Costa Verde’ chevron repeat, presented in various colorways across upholstery and wallcovering, lends an ethereal quality. We are thrilled to partner again on a collection with Lilly Pulitzer and have our brands chosen for this important project.”

Two-Bedroom Cottage: Coastal Tranquility Merging with Adventurous Design

The first cottage, a spacious two-bedroom suite, injects each room with a distinctive flowered personality, connected through a hub living area ideal for sleek relaxation. Based around a custom-designed fireplace topped with delicate shells, a statement piece designed of the Lilly Pulitzer creative studio.

Benjamin Moore’s sandy beige color “Straw Hat” creates the perfect backdrop in one of the bedrooms, evoking warm weather summer accessories. Softer foundation bolsters the focus on the bold fabrics. A mural of a kitchen, done freehand with Lilly Pulitzer studio artists using Benjamin Moore colors, re-creates a color scheme seen from within fabrics, adding a sense of visual consistency and personality.
One of the most distinctive features of the living room is a whimsical lighting installation from Circa Who by Mario Lopez Torres, which provides a touch of Palm Beach chic that suits the easy island atmosphere.

“We wanted these cottages to feel like garden parties you never want to leave,” said Kramer. “They’re playful but sophisticated, designed for the guest who wants luxury and personality in equal measure.”

“Nantucket is a very important resort town where Lilly Pulitzer has celebrated along with the community for decades. The Summer Cottages at The Nantucket are the perfect combination of all the things Lilly brand stands for: a world of Lilly’s signature prints in an exquisite color palette, all wrapped up in a chic resort lifestyle,” said Mira Fain, Lilly Pulitzer’s Chief Creative Officer. “We are thrilled guests can check into these beautiful cottages, receive an instant dose of our uplifting brand, and build everlasting memories.”

The One-Bedroom Cottage: A Coastal Maximalist Gem

In the second, more cocooning one-bedroom cottage, designer Michael Kramer embarked on a bolder, more color-intensive approach. Walls are painted with Benjamin Moore’s timeless “Bird’s Egg Blue,” which serves as a soothing yet lively foundation for the mix of floral fabrics, custom drapery, and bold entrance mural.

The cottage possesses a maximalist feel with thoughtful layering. Brand-specific sconce shades from Pooky Lighting add texture to the walls, while Lilly Pulitzer paintings of herself, alongside a few of our Lilly Pulitzer x Nick Mele items, bring a personal, artistic voice to the space. Brand-themed décor items are thoughtfully spread, complementing the overall appearance with bold sophistication.

Branded Hospitality Combines Fashion and Interiors

This collaboration reflects the manner fashion and interior design can intersect to create experiential guest experiences. In carefully crafted design products—from printed pillows and guest towels to customized bed linens—every cottage delivers a clear Lilly Pulitzer brand statement.

As the resort describes, the renovation was carried out through a collaboration with other reputable partners such as Benjamin Moore and Lee Jofa. They collectively brought the cottages to life before Nantucket By Design, Nantucket’s annual design week celebration, was launched. Guests can view the recently renovated cottages through walk-throughs via appointments prior to the cottages being offered for general booking on July 17.

Seaside Holidays Embarks on a Bold New Chapter

These cottages are a new chapter for Branded Luxury accommodations. Tapping Lilly Pulitzer’s vibrant aesthetic and Michael Thomas & Co.’s refined design expertise, the Nantucket Hotel & Resort has created two exclusive spaces that speak to style, nostalgia, and place.

With fashion-forward interiors, locally oriented flair, and a love of design storytelling, these cottages stretch the boundaries of hospitality—waving welcome mats before rooms that are bold, distinctive, and completely reminiscent of the Nantucket experience.
